A Wonderful Spring Break
Last week we were able to take a vacation to the Wisconsin Dells. That area is named the waterpark capital of the world. We had originally hoped to visit a beach, but then when I realized that the beach during college spring break probably wouldn't be the best fit for us. Instead, we opted for Wisconsin.
We had a wonderful time. We stayed at Glacier Canyon Lodge and there are 3 indoor and 3 outdoor water parks there (outdoor ones not open this time of year obviously). They also had an arts & crafts room, a couple arcades, etc. - plenty to keep us busy and having fun! The rooms were nice and the kids had a great time!
We also had a great trip in the car. It was about 8 1/2 hours from home and we didn't even turn on a single DVD during the whole round trip! It was great! We listened to music, stories on CD, and just talked. It was actually my own first time in Iowa. The kids also enjoyed talking about what states we were in.
It was a nice relaxing time for all of us. As we were swimming most of the time, we saw plenty of people also swimming. Nathaniel told us on the way home, in his most serious and matter-of-fact voice, "Mom, I'm pretty sure everyone in Wisconsin has a tattoo." Hee hee. We did notice how common they sure are.
The kids really loved the art/craft room. The favorite water park may have been the wave pool one, followed closely behind it by the wild west one with plenty of water slides. Leah was even a hoot - she went down slides more than anyone - 3 story + high. She'd get carried to the top, slide down, and then say, "Again."
I'm sure I'll have more little tid bits to add about the trip, but we really did have a nice time away together.

Car Wash
Wow. About 10 days ago, after traveling to and from Washington for Beth's baby shower, I decided to take the truck to the car wash. I had been thinking about it for a week or so, but wanted to time it right in between rain, snow, sleet, travel snacks, etc. SO, after we returned from Washington I did it. I had even checked on the deal, "So when you guys vacuum, how much do you vacuum?" The answer was so pleasant..."front to back, all the way." OH YES! If they only knew what they were committing to! I was SURE I would be getting the best deal and these young high school boys at Waterway had no idea what they were getting into with my car!
After school, I took the kids there and we went inside to watch the event. They had a great time watching the cars go through the car wash and then ours traveled outside where the windows were being cleaned and the vacuuming took place. I could hardly contain myself. It was as if I was getting a treat like a manicure or massage. It was hard to believe how excited I was to see all this taking place in a matter of minutes while I sat with the kids and watched.
Then, upon re-entry, they even asked if everything was ok. Ha, how could it not be? It was like 1000 times better than before. I assured them I knew it would be fine and that I was sorry I had so much work for them to do. Their reply, "No problem, that's our job." (Ha, I'm sure this is after they muttered under their breath while vacuuming the 2 bags of spilled chex mix, many cheerios, miscellaneous other crumbs, and probably a french fry or four.)
Nice, best $15+ tip I have spent in a while. Patrick probably got tired of hearing about it. But I told him I just really felt it was SO worth it! He just smiled and thought it was great I enjoyed it so much. We're all trying to keep it clean now. And I couldn't believe how clean the windows look now, too! Double takes on whether the window was open or closed, hee hee.

Wow, I've been on a break...
from blogging. I need to get some things posted this week before I forget! It's been a crazy few weeks with traveling and working and life in general. Coupled with a few days of nice weather, here we are, March 7 already.
We have Anne at 8 months now and doing great. She's sleeping better and that's been wonderful. The past 4-5 nights, she's pretty much slept at least 8 hours and occasionally up to 10 hours at a time! Now if I get the rest of the crew to do that, it'll be just wonderful!
