Sharp Shooter!

Great day at regional contest last week!  He said he made 22/25 (I thought it was 23).  He was the first shooter and the second guy made 24.  There were 13 and many really were doing well - not much room for error with these boys. We were happy he held on to 2nd and received a medal. Top 12 in state for sure (he may have won at a different regional, who knows). We were all happy for him.  Our neighbor was there, too, and also placed 2nd in his group.

Batter Up!

Just wants to be like his big brother!  So cute to see him go get these at the batting cages.  Batter up!

Random Thoughts

A few things from this week:

Leah's career aspirations: she mentioned she thinks she may want to work at Crayola.  She thought maybe she could sort crayons and but them in boxes, or maybe she could make markers, because she knows how to make markers (she got a marker maker kit for Christmas).  She had an elaborate plan but also wondered for sure how to make the pink and gray since with her colors, she could make red, but not pink.

Anne's goodnight sentiments:  she's been mimicking me lately in a cute way and repeating what I say. So, she'll usually say, "Goodnight big angel, or "Goodnight my darling sweet pea." It's pretty cute hearing her come up with things to say.

I know there were a few more things, but I can't remember at the moment.

Parenting...

The days of parenting are long, but the years are short.

I'm not sure who said this, I certainly can't claim it as my own, but I sure do agree with it.  That's probably what keeps me from keeping my thoughts and family updates from being recorded regularly.  I enjoy every day with this family, but by day's end, I sure don't typically feel like I'm ready to sit at the computer and record too much.  Ready for sleep!

Funny that I'm even writing anything tonight.  We had a full day of running since 8am and for some reason I guess I'm feeling reflective.  I'm the only one awake right now, just finished planning some school for next week (usually a Sunday evening thing - so that feels good), and then just figured I'd take a few minutes.  

Very quiet, I can only hear the rain running down the gutters.  So peaceful and feeling very grateful for a wonderful life.

Words from Anne

I am regretful of so many things that I'm sure I won't remember since I'm not getting them recorded often enough.  However, I am fully enjoying the moment when things are said.  Anne has been full of good stuff lately.  She's sometimes calling me the names I call her.  Like when I put her to bed lately, she'll tell me, "Goodnight big angel." (vs. me telling her sweet or little angel).  Or, "You're such a sweet little peanut," is what she said tonight.  On a more serious note, when she was praying, it was the first time, unprompted, that she prayed for anyone who needed prayers "even if they don't like God."  That last part really struck me - that she considered the fact that others may not be in much of a relationship with God at this time, and then even more how she wanted to pray for those people.  I just really thought it was rather profound for her to say that.  Hmm, from the mouths of babes.  Jesus' words in action about the children and the Kingdom of God!

Hopefully she doesn't always feel this way about those boys?!

Summer pics

These are just a few from our trip to Texas to visit the Graham cousins and Aunt Lissy and Uncle Gary.  Fun trip. It was me and the kids and they enjoyed the time.  We visited the Heard Museum and covered about a 2.5 mile hike with 12 kids and two moms!
